Top 5 Things to Record About Your Pet

Most pet owners know their pet inside out. But, what if you're not there? Even if you live with someone, maybe they are not a hands-on carer for your pet, maybe you do all the feeding, the trips to the vet, the dog walks etc?

Have you ever thought about writing down your pets meal plans?

If you ever can't be there because something urgent has happened, it is really important that someone else can step in to the roll of caring for your pets without any guess work.

Imagine not being able to tell your step-in carer what medications your dog needs, or that special diet your cat has for example? Maybe your dog can't have the food your other dogs have because it will make them ill?

This type of detail needs to be recorded and we think that the My Pet Planner note book or a dedicated Pet Planner PDF is the best plan for these types of eventualities.

Here are 5 things worth recording for your pet

  • Food types, measurements and any additional information, like 'add half a mug of water'. Add vital information about foods that maybe one of your dogs must not eat!
  • Planned or routine vet visits. Maybe your dog needs to go to the vets every 8 weeks for blood tests, or maybe they need steroids every 6 months. These things are incredibly important for your pets wellbeing, but it is something only you know!
  • Medications, food supplements, herbal medicine, flea and worm treatments, dosage information etc, all necessary for your dogs wellbeing.
  • Behavioural notes, especially when you have more than one dog. For example, not feeding your dogs together incase they might argue. Not letting a pack of 6 dogs out of the back door at the same time incase they fight, configuration for travelling in the car, might sound daft, but I know for myself, it's an important factor.
  • Exercise notes - No one would be able to walk all 6 of my dogs together like I do. There are certain things a carer would need to know to make sure there was no fighting etc.

So, you see, the things you store in your head are really important, but you don't consider that if you couldn't be there, no one else would have this information.

This is exactly the reason I created My Pet Planner. In the event of a family or personal emergency, you won't have time to make a note for someone stepping in to look after your pets.

You can plan ahead with My Pet Planner and be organised ahead of any emergency or event a planned event making the care of your pets a top priority.
